Cosplay Contest

The UBCon XXXIV Cosplay Contest will take place at 3:30pm on Saturday, April 11th in the Student Union Theater.

General Rules

     General:
  • Entrants must have a Con Badge.
  • All convention rules (including costumes and weapons) will be enforced. These rules can be found here.
  • By entering the contest, you agree to having photos taken while on the stage.
  • All entrants must sign up before the contest, either online or before 12:00pm (noon) the day of the contest at registration.
  • Those who sign up online must also check in at registration. If you are unable to do so, please email us.
  • Barefoot characters must have shoes on for the contest. The lack of authenticity will be forgiven.
  • Costumes that have previously won awards may not be entered into the same category. (ie you cannot enter a costume you won a craftsmanship award for into the craftsmanship category, but you can use it in a skit.)
  • Contestants may only enter one category.
  • No Vulgarity beyond a PG-13 rating.
  • No messy substances are allowed on stage (glitter, anything wet, confetti, etc.) Anything thrown onto the stage must be picked up immediately after.
  • Groups (Max of 4) are allowed only in Walk-On and Skits.

Failure to abide by these rules will result in disqualification. All rules are for the safety and fairness of all contestants.

If you have any questions, please send them to [email protected].

FAQ

Q: Can I enter the craftsmanship category if I modified existing clothing for my cosplay?
A: Yes, as long as you did a lot to make it different. Example: you bought a jacket, cut the sleeves off to make it a vest, added trim, and painted a design on the back.

Q: Where is the contest located this year?
A: The cosplay contest is back in its usual spot, the Student Union theater!

Q: Where is registration for the Idol contest?
A: We've decided to replace the Idol contest with open Karaoke. If you want to perform a song or dance that goes with your cosplay, you may do so in the cosplay contest skit category.

Q: I submitted a form, but I want to change something/no longer want to enter.
A: If you want to edit or delete your entry, please send an email to [email protected].

For all UBcon inquiries not related to cosplay events, please email [email protected].

Good luck!
